With this high resolution wireless bird box camera system you can capture crystal clear footage of wildlife and view it on a separate TV or monitor, as well as having the option to preserve it on your PC. This Digital System allows a wireless video range of up to 150m and options to potentially increase this further.

Box Set-up

This full kit starts with the box itself, which is designed to act as an attractive nesting place for various small birds. The entrance hole plate can be removed and replaced, depending on the species that you are looking to house. This may be anything from wrens and robins to blue tits and even house sparrows. Removing all front panels will allow you to convert the bird box into a portable feeder.

Camera Capabilities

The camera may be compact but it is still a powerful tool for wildlife watching, with a superior SONY sensor that works well in low light conditions. It can even capture video in the hours of darkness as it does when daylight is streaming into the box. Built in Night Vision enables you to watch during night in complete darkness in B/W mode.

The lens offers a wide angle view and can be adjusted or replaced if required. However, it is set up to offer an ideal focal length for the dimensions of the bird box itself so users will rarely need to change it. The camera can be popped out after the nesting season and used for other projects.

This is a high resolution colour camera and embedded with an optional upgrade of having ia microphone which will simultaneously transmit audio to accompany the video, with the same digital clarity. The microphone is sensitive enough to pick up even the quietest sounds generated by the inhabitants of the box so you really will get the full experience.
Please note that despite some other companies claim that their nest box cameras are high resolution, this does not entirely suggest they produce the same results as ones to similar TVL. The quality of cameras are governed by the type of chip used, sensor, led and other parameters. A competitor’s 700tvl camera will probably not be the same as our 700tvl camera.

Wireless Streaming 

What sets this bird box camera system apart from other models is the fact that the transmission of the AV signal occurs wirelessly using digital connectivity. And there are various benefits to this when compared with older, analogue options.

The signal will be encrypted during transmission, meaning that it is safe, secure and only accessible via the included wireless receiver. 

While analogue systems can suffer from interference and loss of quality when wireless transmission occurs, this digital set-up will offer uninterrupted high resolution video streaming up to around 150m or even more.

Although the AV signal is transmitted wirelessly and requires no cabling, the camera and transmitter units will need to be powered by a mains connection, with the necessary cable supplied. A nearby power supply near a bird box is ideal. Alternatively a battery pack unit can be used. We supply these separately.

The receiver unit can then be kept indoors and plugged into your TV or monitor via the included connections so that you can start to enjoy your bird watching in earnest.

The good news about all of the components included in this kit is that they are ready to use immediately, with the set-up being deliberately simple. You merely need to place the box in an appropriate location, position the camera and transmitter, plug in the receiver indoors and watch the magic happen.

Computer Connectivity

As with most modern camera equipment, you can connect this to a compatible PC provided that it has an integrated capture card to make this a possibility. And if such a card is not available, you can simply buy a USB adaptor that will allow you to enjoy real time playback from this wireless camera source, as well as giving you the option to record the video direct to your hard drive.

FAQ
Power Cable Length
The supplied length is 5m which can be extended to a maxmum of 100m with the standard power supply unit.
Extension cables are available separately which will plug directly to the end of the single exisiting cable.

Powering the Camera
As with all electrical devices power is required and with the majority of nest box cameras this would be external.
This is due to the wireless power consumption being quite high, and small batteries within the camera's body would only last for a few hours.
A 5m power extension cable is supplied to run the power source away from the nesting source (e.g. a nearby shed or to the bottom of a tree) to a 12V battery or to the supplied mains power plug. The power cable can be extended.
The wireless aspect refers to the wireless transmission of video which is relayed back to the receiver. For some users they may refer this to as semi wireless.

Rechargable power banks in different sizes with different usage times are available separately. The option of solar panel systems are also available for a complete autonomous setup. The location of installation of these would be away from the nest box for instance at the base of a tree to prevent any disturbance to the nesting site.

Wireless System Type
This is a digital bird box wireless system which means it does not suffer from wireless interfence unlike analogue wireless systems, and is ten times more powerful.
At a power transmission of 100mW (restricted by Law) for digital systems a maximum theoretical range of 100m could be acheived. Realistically we have found this to be quite close.

As with all wireless devices range would normally drastically reduce with an obstructions in particular walls. High gain antennae along with receiver extension cables for repositioning are availble separately.
The wireless ranges can be pushed to around 250m, and our bespoke systems can go into kilometers if required.

TV/Computer Connection
The system offers the standard connection which plugs directly to the back of a TV/Monitor through the RCA. These are normally round phono type connections found on the back of most of these devices and would look like round sockets normally coloured yellow (video), and white or red (audio).
The cable will directly connect to these with a third lead which is to be connected to the mains power plug.

HDMI and SCART adapters are available separately. These simply plug directly onto the existing cable.

A USB convertor will directly plug onto the cable and the other end to the PC/MAC. This can be added at a later stage if required. The software supplied will allow the user to record, and watch live directly on the device. It is further possible to set motion detection.
