As with a number of Browning’s most recent releases, the Defender 850 benefits from a wide array of connectivity options. Being able to quickly transfer pictures and videos that have been captured over a wireless link between the camera and your smartphone is the ultimate in convenience and eliminates a lot of the normal hassle that can be inherent in the remote management of trail cameras.
Also of interest is the modest form factor of this camera, which means that it has an unobtrusive presence when it has been set up in the wild, rather than sticking out like a sore thumb. This is further enhanced thanks to the camouflaged chassis, while the mounting bracket itself is the height of convenience due to its adjustability.
Right out of the box, you can benefit from the included 16GB memory card and the quartet of lithium batteries, which should be a good way to get started with this trail camera. Then, further down the line if you decide you need more space for all your photos and videos, it offers compatibility with high capacity cards of up to 128GB in size.
The 20 megapixel maximum image resolution of the Browning Defender 850 is likely to result in the standard storage allocation being filled fairly quickly, although you can, of course, reduce the capture resolution if you want to optimise your use of the available space and also improve the battery life over time.
